HEINRICH Neufeld of Cologne may have come up with the ultimate mode
of transport for the environmentally concerned. His solar-powered bicycle
was demonstrated in Switzerland last week prior to the Tour de Sol world
championship race for vehicles powered by the Sun. The bike weighs a hefty
56 kilograms and on a sunny day can reach a top speed of 60 kilometres per
hour. In case of cloud cover, pedals are also provided.
