Sticking a dinosaur on a letter is a popular habit as Stuart Baldwin
and the late Beverly Halstead’s Dinosaur Stamps of the World (Baldwin, pp
128, £10) shows. A richly illustrated paperback*, it contains 96 colour
plates showing dinosaur stamps from around the world, a brief note on the
British stamps issued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the naming of
dinosaurs by Richard Owen, as well as brief notes on classification, Owen’s
dinosauria and a checklist of stamp issues. Sadly, Halstead died in a traffic
accident this year. The authors’ royalties from this book will go to the
Beverly Halstead Trust Fund.
