France’s national cigarette and match company Seita is celebrating the
Earth Summit with the launch of its new, environment-friendly match. The
lettuce-green match head contains no chromium, zinc or sulphur; its contents
remain secret, but Seita says that both the head and the abrasive strip
on the box are nontoxic and biodegradable.
A limited stock of the new matches go on sale during the Earth Summit.
The box, too, is environment-friendly. The inside is made out of recycled
cardboard and the outside is of undyed, new cardboard ‘without additives
of any kind’.
