IF surfing the Net is some folks’ idea of a hobby, what could be better than a home page featuring that other great pastime – messing about in boats. Welcome to that little slice of heaven, http://www.ac95.org, where you can find out everything you ever wanted to know about the 1995 Americas Cup. The regatta – held off the coast at San Diego, California – has attracted challengers from Australia, France, Japan, New Zealand and Spain.

The Web page provides detailed reports of all the races, which will culminate in a competition between a US team and a non-US team in May. There’s also a rogues’ gallery of the boats and their crews and even weather updates for the San Diego area.

The organisers of the regatta have made a concession to non-English speakers by benevolently providing some of their articles in a second language. Netropolitan has so far been unable to fathom why they chose Korean.
