FINDING order out of chaos, points out Benoit Mandelbrot, has been a human preoccupation since records have been kept. He introduces Bill Hirst’s collection of photographs Fractal Landscapes From the Real World (Cornerhouse, pp 84, £16.95 pbk). The photographs range from the sea defences at Colwyn Bay in Wales to the wilds of Galway.
