Engineers can be so frustratingly unengaging when it comes to extolling the remarkable expertise underpinning the design and constructian of high-rise buildings. Which is why Skyscrapers: Form and Function by David Bennett (Simon & Schuster; $35, ISBN 0 684 80318 6) is long overdue. The foldout pictures of some of the world’s most impressive structures are spectacular.
