A patent from Marcello Drago of Encino, California, (WO 95/24250) will give party animals their own disco lights and sound system.

A jacket, fashion belt, or pair of boots or shoes contains a circuit similar to a video game with a slot for a ROM cartridge. The cartridge contains a program to control a musical performance and synchronised light show.

The garment either has a bank of LEDs sewn into the cloth, or a light source connected to a bundle of optic fibres that weave through the cloth to generate a snow storm of light points.

The wearer can control the speed of the musical beat, and the flashes of light. The music comes from a small loudspeaker which is worn by the dancer.

Switched into reverse the speaker becomes a microphone. The lights on the outfit then flash in time with the music from another sound system in the room.
