Review : Whither weather?

After a somewhat tedious, worthy, educational first chapter on what makes
weather work, the rest of John and Mary Gribbin’s Watching the Weather
(Constable,£14.95, ISBN 0 09 476530 8) is anecdotal, informative and very
readable, with some flashes of delightfully deadpan humour. Based on their
