Still desperately seeking stocking fillers? Zoologist Richard Dawkins has two
on offer. One is The Pocket Watchmaker, essentially a taster from his 1988 book
The Blind Watchmaker, which has been newly reissued as a baby Penguin (ISBN 0 14
600241 5). It’s cheap, 60p, and though small enough to fit in your pocket, is
meaty enough to keep you going for a good hour. The other is a CD-ROM, The
Evolution of Life (Notting Hill Electronic Publishers, £29.95, ISBN 1
900143 10 0), a big cybermuseum with Dawkins as curator. Good if you want to
keep someone busy. Not so good if you get lost inside.
