Review : Humble origins

Now in paperback, Chris Stringer and Robin McKie’s African Exodus (Pimlico,
£12.50, ISBN 0 7126 7307 5) presents the “out of Africa” case for human
origins. Read it for a lucid presentation of evidence against the recent idea
that humans reached Australia far earlier than had been thought possible
(“Australia’s date with destiny”, New Scientist, 7 December, p 28).
