THE ELECTION fever now gripping Britain is spilling over onto the Web. Since
last month’s launch of Election 1997 (http://www.election.co.uk/) and General
Election 97 (http://www.ge97.co.uk/) several other sites have emerged. Quite a
few of them are offshoots of television or newspapers. The BBC’s election site
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/election97/) has a large home page and can only be read
with a browser that can cope with frames. ITN’s site is on
http://itnelection.co.uk/. The BBC children’s television programme
Newsround also has an election site with ideas on how to organise mock
elections at schools (http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/).
