Prevention is better than cure. For vast areas of sub-Saharan Africa, it is
the only realistic option for fighting the scourge of malaria. Standard drugs

reports the findings of an international team examining the use of
insecticide-treated netting in preventing mosquito bites. Trials of this simple
inexpensive technology show it can cut death rates in children by more than 60
per cent. Published by IDRC/WHO, $30, ISBN 0 88936 792 2.
