Disappointingly, Edward Golub’s The Limits of Medicine takes a
fascinating concept—the idea that the parameters of medicine should be
regarded as conceptual rather than technical—but his attempts at
accessibility shift it into the prosaic. A brave attempt, for all that,
deserving attention. Published by University of Chicago Press,
£11.95/$14.95, ISBN 0226302075.
