An MPEG video camera that converts moving pictures into digital code and
stores them on a miniature hard disc is to be launched in Europe by electronics
giant Hitachi. But the electronic circuit boards inside generate a lot of heat
and if the camera chip or hard disc gets too hot, they malfunction.

Unfortunately, there is no room for a heat sink or fan, so instead Hitachi
has attached the power-hungry chip to the inside of the aluminium case using
conductive rubber (EP 766 459). All its heat goes directly into the casing and
from there into the hand of the photographer. Anyone buying an MPEG camera
should not worry if things get hot during filming.
