Nanotechnologists say that the tiny construction kit they are gradually
putting together now includes T-junctions.

Madhu Menon from the University of Kentucky and Deepak Srivastava from NASA’s
Ames Research Center have simulated a technique for making the components
(Physical Review Letters, vol 79, p 4453). They suggest putting heptagons in the
normally hexagonal molecular lattice from which carbon nanotubes are constructed
to produce a curved joint between two perpendicular tubes.
