Stanton Magnetics, of Plainview, New York, wants DJs to feel the music. It
has devised a system which lets someone listen to one sound source through
headphones, while feeling vibrations of another (GB 2 311 683). So a DJ can cue
up music on two turntables at the same time. The same technology could help
profoundly deaf people listen to music, watch a movie or play a video game.

The system feeds the sound to a transducer mounted on a band that clamps over
the shoulder and presses on the sternum. The transducer vibrates and causes
sympathetic vibrations inside the wearer’s rib cage.
