Happy Valentine’s Day or, as the Romans might have said, Io Lupercalia!
When the Christian church took over this ancient fertility festival—in an
early outbreak of religious correctness—the traditional rituals fell out
of favour. So it is rare these days to see naked priests running around the city
whipping young women with thongs to ensure their fertility. You can find out
