Review : . . . then sense

Another book out in paperback next week is David Chalmers’s The Conscious
Mind, first released in August 1996. Douglas Hofstadter hailed it as “a grand
exploration of the topic, brilliantly argued by someone who knows the territory
inside out”. Our reviewer wasn’t as impressed (31 August, p 40). Published by
