Chris Howes’s The Spice Of Life is a straightforward explication of
Darwinian theory with a strong underpinning of ecological concern. The
illustrations suggest a youthful target audience, but it is perfectly
serviceable as a serious reference work. Some of Prince Charles’s observations
are quoted—this may be a populist move, but it undermines credibility.
