A talking refrigerator goes on sale in Japan next month. Developed by
Matsushita, the £2000 fridge warns people if food is in danger of going
off. Sensors linked to a microprocessor monitor the energy efficiency of the
cooling system and the internal temperature. The fridge gives audible warnings
if there is too much food in it or if the door is open.
