A high-quality VHS video machine has been developed by JVC. Ten years ago JVC
tried to launch a superior system, called Super-VHS, but this flopped because it
was not compatible with existing VHS tapes and recorders. Like Super-VHS, the
new machines will offer twice the picture resolution of standard VHS when used
with a special tape. But they will also be able to record high-quality pictures
on standard VHS tape. The recorders will go on sale in Japan this summer.
