A bigger picture

Japan’s scientists should broaden their horizons and be aware of developments
outside their fields, according to the country’s Science and Technology Agency.
In its annual policy document, the agency urges researchers to be more open and
tell the public about their work. So that they can explain their work and follow
its wider impact on society, the agency says, researchers must track
developments in other fields, and also keep abreast of religion and
philosophy.
