If you want to be an astronaut but NASA isn’t interested, don’t despair. The
X Prize Foundation of St Louis is running a sweepstake in which the prize is a
trip into space. The trouble is, the rocket doesn’t yet exist.

The X Prize Foundation has already offered $10 million to the
operators of the first privately funded spacecraft to lift three people to an
altitude of 100 kilometres. The winner of the sweepstake will get a free trip on
a flight of the winning rocket. For details, see the foundation’s website at
http://www.xprize.org.
