An amateur astronomer in Australia has set a distance record for imaging an
artificial object in space. Using a 25-centimetre telescope, Gordon Garradd
detected the Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous Spacecraft at a distance of 33.65
million kilometres from the Earth.

Garradd, who lives near Tamworth in New South Wales, obtained a digital image
of the craft when sunlight glanced off its solar arrays.
