Pedantic software that translates the English subtitles of TV programmes into
Spanish in real time and corrects the grammar has been developed by researchers
in Canada. By drawing on an analysis of which relationships between words are
statistically most likely, the software, ALTo, can turn ungrammatical English
into decent Spanish. This is useful, as dialogue often breaks grammatical
rules.
