If you forget to take your video camera on holiday with you, a company in
Auckland, New Zealand, has the solution: a disposable video camera (W0
98/26586).

The body of the camcorder is made of reinforced cardboard and contains a
simple recording mechanism, a factory-loaded cassette tape and a cheap image
sensor. Power comes from a clockwork mechanism.

After you’ve shot your video, you don’t even have to throw the camcorder
away—you can return it to a recycling centre where you will be given
credit towards further purchases.

And to prevent cheats reloading their own tapes, the camcorder has a seal
that must be broken to remove the video tape. This triggers an electrical
circuit that destroys a vital component inside the camcorder.
