An archaeological site in Miami was saved from destruction last week. The
site contains a 13-metre-wide stone circle dubbed “Miami’s Stonehenge”, thought
to have been carved 2000 years ago
(New Scientist, 20 February, p 22).
The county government, helped out by an $8.5 million loan from the Trust
for Public Land in San Francisco, bought the property from developers who wanted
to build an office tower.
