Two great science publishers, Oxford University Press and Penguin, have just
opened a fine bag of science paperbacks. The loot from Oxford includes John
Maynard Smith and Eors Szathmary on The Origins of Life, John Holland’s
Emergence, John Barrow’s The Universe That Discovered Itself,
as well as Enrico Coen on genes and Susan Blackmore on memes. Penguin relaunches
a modern classics list repackaged in wild and elegant covers. Take your pick
