In 1975, Brenda and Robert Vale virtually invented the eco-friendly residence
with their manifesto for “the autonomous house”. But they never built it. Till
now that is. The New Autonomous House is a detailed description of the
completion of their solar-powered, cesspitted, rainwater-supplied abode on an
