A recipe for a good night’s sleep is being patented by Jewel Power of Tokyo
(EP 986 979). Its mattresses are made from the usual cushioned material, but
with reinforced recesses at each corner. The cavities at the head end house a
pair of stereo speakers that relay music from a bedside hi-fi. The cavities at
the foot end contain low-frequency oscillators that vibrate in time to the
music. The combination, says Jewel Power, “provides superior relaxation during
sleep”.
