Fingers crossed

The American authors of Earth and You, Charles Officer and Jake
Page, claim the book is optimistic. It’s hard to see why. They describe
well-known environmental problems and disasters, then extract comfort from some
successful solutions. But their cheerfulness about coping with the huge future
menaces appears little more than finger-crossing. Published by University Press
