THIS Christmas, rival hi-fi groups will be out to persuade you to ditch your
CD player and buy one of two new souped-up systems: Super Audio CD or DVD-Audio.
The launch date for DVD-Audio is only weeks away, yet one hi-fi magazine is so
critical of the system that it thinks buyers should avoid it.

Unlike SACD, DVD-Audio discs have an anti-piracy “watermark” signal buried in
the sound. Expert listeners who took part in a controversial test of the system
