Criminals who try to outsmart police dogs armed with stun weapons—by
wearing insulating clothing—are in for a nasty shock. Stunmuzzle of
Orange, California, has patented a radical solution: a quick-release muzzle that
carries a radio-controlled stun gun (W0 00/36905). As a first line of attack,
the dog nuzzles up to the villain, looking for bare flesh or thin cloth. A
police officer can trigger the gun, which gives a high-voltage shock that should
stun the crook into submission. If this fails the officer can flick another
