A theremin gives an unearthly and beautiful sound when played. And for many,
it’s the sound of the century because this is the first electronic instrument.
Leon Theremin made the first in 1920. This biography Theremin by Albert
Glinsky shows a wildly creative inventor—he had a notion for a virtual
reality glove a few decades in advance, for example. He was also a spy.
Theremin’s music still fills heads to this day. Published by University of
Illinois Press, $34.95, ISBN 0252025822.
