More than six hundred couples from around the world have volunteered for an
experiment to create the first cloned humans, say fertility experts. Rome-based
doctor Severino Antinori leads the team of researchers who want to turn cloning
into a fertility treatment. The first experiments, which could start as early as
October, will focus on couples where the male partner is infertile. Reproductive
cloning is banned in many countries and the scientists still aren’t saying where
the experiments will take place.
