A police truncheon that doubles as a stun gun will help to clear criminals
off the streets, according to an American company, Less Lethal of Los Angeles
(WO 00/79208). The device looks like an ordinary truncheon or nightstick baton,
with a handle on one side. If a criminal is too dangerous to approach, the
police officer can break the baton in half to expose a wide barrel that shoots a
beanbag at the suspect. This will knock over or wind the suspect, allowing the
police officer to get closer.
