CONTRARY to popular belief, neutered dogs are more likely to growl and bite
than those left as nature intended, says Norma Guy of the University of Prince
Edward Island in Canada. Guy and her colleagues questioned the owners of over
3000 dogs brought to veterinary clinics. They found that aggressive behaviour
was more than 50 per cent higher among neutered dogs, even allowing for age and
gender (Applied Animal Behaviour Science, vol 74, p 15).
