Save a songbird

Endangered birds in Britain can make a comeback if more farmers sow crops for
game birds during the winter. A three-year study has found that scarce songbirds
such as skylarks, yellowhammers and buntings thrive on seeds from game crops
such as kale, quinoa and linseed. The government is to offer farmers grants to
plant the crops following a study carried out by the Game Conservancy Trust and
the Allerton Research and Educational Trust in Leicestershire.
