This year saw an alarming rise in tea cosy accidents in Britain, up to 37
from 20 last year. The figures come from the government’s annual Home and
Leisure Accident Surveillance System report. Based on hospital records, the
report gives estimated national figures for the causes of accidents. Other
dangers revealed by the report include sponges (787 accidents), trousers (5945)
and, especially, vegetables (13,132).
