WHAT’S the latest product for pampered pets? A dog food that promises to help
stop your pooch from going senile. Kansas-based company Hills Pet told the North
American Veterinary Conference in Florida last week that the food combats signs
of canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome—a condition with symptoms similar
to Alzheimer’s in humans.

They tested 40 beagles and found that while the food had no effect on younger
animals, dogs aged 10 to 13 years eating the food for a year seemed to improve
their learning and disposition and were less likely to poop in the house. Hills
