Biometrics are all the rage in this security-conscious age, and now cars are getting the treatment (WO 02/08022-3). But face-recognition cameras need strong lighting, and nobody wants to be dazzled by bright lights just before driving off. The answer is to use cameras that detect invisible, infrared light, says developer TRW. Anyone entitled to drive first poses for a reference snapshot.
