IF YOU’RE a single woman still hunting for the right man, you can now blame the economy. The bigger the difference in earnings between rich men and poor men, the longer women take to find the perfect match.

Economist Eric Gould and Daniele Paserman of the Hebrew University in Israel looked at census statistics from more than 300 American cities from 1970 to 1990.
