“His and hers” now extends to puppy food, apparently. Dog owners should not be giving male and female pups the same foods, claims Nestle Purina PetCare of St Louis, Missouri (WO 03/037103).

It says male and female pups need different amounts of protein-building amino acid methionine if they are to grow healthily without getting fat. Male puppy food should have around 0.4 per cent methionine by weight, while females need only around 0.3 per cent.
