Ed Moses studied physics at Morehouse College, Atlanta. He won his first Olympic gold aged 20 in a world-record time of 47.64 seconds at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and was ahead of his time in training and rehabilitation techniques such as heart-rate monitoring and ice treatment. He has been a member of the International Olympic Committee Ethics Commission since 2000 and has pioneered policies to keep performance-enhancing drugs out of sport. He is chairman of the Laureus World Sports Academy, which promotes the use of sport as a tool for social change.
