“Here’s one of me with the man-eating lion.” Well, not really. But a new digital camera will let you create pictures like these. It will blend two photos without the need to use a PC.

In world patent application W0 2004/040901, Casio of Japan says its camera will have a “combine” button. A first shot is taken of a lion, with the animal on the left of the frame. A second shot is taken, say, in the back garden, with mum or dad to the right. The camera’s software then “stitches” the two pictures together by correcting colour and contrast…
