Pop stars sing again in aid of Africa

THE west is once again being forced to confront the fate of people starving in Africa. In the UK pop stars have released a new version of Do They Know It’s Christmas?, the bestselling 1984 single that raised money for Band Aid, and US artists are expected to release a reprise of their 1985 track We Are The World.

But while such projects can raise millions in aid, a report this week illustrates that the problem extends far beyond Africa. Throughout the world, more people are facing starvation than ever before.
