Vietnam's bird flu death toll rises

Four more people have died of the H5N1 strain of bird flu in southern Vietnam in the past two weeks, and another 10 people being treated in hospital are also being tested for the virus.

The latest deaths bring the total number of confirmed victims of H5N1 to 36, all in Vietnam and Thailand. Those infected so far are all thought to have contracted the disease directly from sick birds. So far three-quarters of people confirmed to be infected with the virus have died.
