Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov and astronaut David Scott took part in a nationalistic race for space. Leonov was the first to walk in space, Scott commanded Apollo 15. What is striking about Two Sides of the Moon (Pocket Books, £8.99) is not competition, however, but cooperation. Leonov and Scott tell their stories, and recount how they met, planning the Apollo-Soyuz mission that saw two spacecraft united in a gesture of peace.
