First it was lawnmowers, then vacuum cleaners, now the latest robot to join the domestic arsenal is a $150 robotic mop. Called Scooba and the size and shape of a scooter wheel laid flat, the robot sweeps, scrubs and dries wood, tile or lino floors.

Developed by MIT spin-off iRobot in Burlington, Massachusetts, the robot has two tanks, one containing cleaning fluid, and a separate tank for the dirty water it sucks up.
