SOFTWARE that can interpret everyday written language is being used to turn descriptions of an event such as a road accident into a 3D animation of what happened.

The software, called CarSim, is the work of a group led by Pierre Nugues at Lund University in Sweden. The researchers hope it will one day be used to help people visualise a complex chain of events such as the build-up to an accident, or as a training aid to teach drivers what they are doing wrong.
